Is your AC past its best? Wylie summers run long, and an air conditioner takes the brunt of them. Let Stork's handle your AC replacement.
Call or book a time that suits you in minutes.
Stork's is a family-owned HVAC company, and our brand new office is on Williams Street in Wylie. We replace central air conditioners across the city, from the first look at your system to the final inspection.
About three in four Wylie homes were built in 2000 or later, so a large share of the city's original air conditioners are now at the age where owners start asking about replacement.
A replacement quote from us is upfront, so you see the price before any work starts. A technician can go over your options with you, and you choose from there.
A replacement is more than swapping the box outside. The outdoor unit, indoor coil, refrigerant lines, thermostat and often the ducts all have to work together, so the quote should cover the whole job.
Our technicians work on every make and model and handle AC replacement from the first measurements to the final walkthrough, including:
Full System Replacement
We remove the old system and set the new outdoor unit and indoor coil, then connect the refrigerant lines, power and drain. Before we leave we test the new system and walk you through how it works.
Outdoor Unit and Matching Coil
A condenser and an indoor coil are designed to work as a pair. When one needs replacing, we check whether the other should go with it, and the quote shows which parts are included.
Heat Pump as the Replacement
A heat pump cools like an air conditioner and also heats the house, so one outdoor unit can do both jobs. If it makes sense for your home, we can quote a heat pump beside a standard AC.
Load Sizing and Ductwork Check
A system that is too small struggles, and one that is too big short-cycles and leaves uneven temperatures. We size the system for your home with a load calculation and look over the ductwork, so the new unit isn't connected to ducts that can't carry its air.
Thermostat and Controls
Newer systems can use programmable thermostats, remote app access and zoning. We set up the thermostat with the new system and show you how to use it.
Removal, Permit and Final Walkthrough
We remove the old equipment and handle the permit paperwork, and the permit fee is included in your project cost. Someone from Stork's meets the inspector, and we finish with a walkthrough of the new system.
Wylie's permit list names air conditioning and heating system installs and replacements, and it names ductwork installs and replacements separately.
Not sure whether to replace or repair? Call or book online, and the technician will go over both options with you before you decide.
Get a New AC Quote in Wylie
Call or book online and we'll set up a visit to look at your system and your home. You get an upfront quote before any work starts. If you already have a quote from someone else, our second opinion calculator can check it.
Pick the one that sounds like your house to see what's usually behind it and what to do next. Most of these start with reading the label on your outdoor unit or looking at your bills, and none of them need a ladder or a tool. If you'd like a second set of eyes on a quote you already have, the calculator further down the page is free.
An old system
What's usually behind it
Parts that wear with every season
Efficiency that has slipped since it was installed
A unit that was already near the end of its range
What to do next: Find the manufacture date on the rating label of the outdoor unit, and write it down along with the model number.
Census estimates put the median Wylie home at 2006, so a house from that year still on its first system has an air conditioner about 20 years old.
What to do next: Ask what the repair would cost against a replacement, in writing, before you decide. You can also run the quote you have through our second opinion calculator.
What to do next: Gather your repair invoices. When the total for the last few years starts to approach the cost of a new system, a replacement quote is worth having.
A system that came with the house
What's usually behind it
No record of when it was installed
No service history from the last owner
Equipment that was never sized for how you live
What to do next: Read the rating label on the outdoor unit for the model, serial number and manufacture date. Then ask for the previous owner's paperwork if you can get it.
Census data shows about 38% of Wylie households moved in since 2018, so a good share of the city's systems are in homes where the install date may not be on record.
A system that runs longer to hold the same temperature
What to do next: Compare this summer's bills with last summer's for the same weather. If they are climbing and the filter is clean, have the system checked.
NOAA's normals for the Lavon Dam station, the nearest to Wylie, count about 95 days a year at 90 F or above, so an inefficient system has a lot of hot days to run on.
What to do next: With the system running, hold your hand to the vent in each room. A weak vent in one room points to ducts, and weak vents everywhere point to the system.
What to do next: Read the refrigerant type on the outdoor unit's label. If it says R-22 and the system is leaking, ask for a replacement quote beside the repair quote.

Could not recommend Stork's Heating and Air enough! I recently purchased a condo in downtown Dallas and needed to completely replace my AC unit. Shelby Black came out earlier than scheduled, walked me through the process, and made sure everything was taken care of before the replacement began. He was incredibly accommodating and made what could have been a stressful situation much easier. The speed of service, communication, professionalism, and hospitality were truly unmatched. It's rare to find a company that is this responsive and customer-focused. I greatly appreciate Shelby and the entire Stork's team for their outstanding service. I will absolutely continue to use Stork's Heating and Air for any future HVAC needs and will be recommending them to all of my friends and family!

AC and electrical panel repair
Used stork for an HVAC issue and an electrical issue. James was exceptional- explained everything and gave us a lot of valuable insights and ideas to resolve our HVAC issue in the most economical manner. Jimmy (the electrician) was also great - gave us 2 options and didn’t push us to do anything. I highly recommend Stork and will use them again.

AC Replacement in Wylie Homes: What to Check Before You Sign
AC Replacement Permits in Wylie: What the City's Paperwork Asks For
The City of Wylie's sheet for an installer asks for a State of Texas Master Mechanical License number, so you can ask for it before you sign.
The City of Wylie's list of projects requiring permits names air conditioning and heating system installs and replacements, and ductwork installs and replacements. For a job done by a company, the city's Sub-Contractor Validation Sheet has a line for the HVAC company's name and its State of Texas Master Mechanical License number. The person signing it also certifies having reviewed the covenants and restrictions that apply to the property, and the sheet says the permit itself doesn't settle whether the work breaks a deed restriction. The city's directory lists more than 40 HOA subdivisions, so if yours is one, ask whether its covenants say anything about outdoor equipment.
An owner who claims a homestead exemption at the address and will perform all of the work personally can sign a notarized homeowner mechanical affidavit instead. It promises that the work meets the adopted codes and that the owner will schedule the inspections, and the city reserves the right to revoke that permit if violations are reported and not corrected.
When the work is done through Stork's, we pull the permit, the permit fee is included in your project cost, and someone from Stork's meets the inspector.
Check this yourself: Ask any installer for the license number that will go on the city's sheet and who will be at the inspection.
Refrigerant in a New AC: Ask What's Being Installed in Wylie
A May 2026 EPA rule means a new AC installed this winter could be equipment made before 2025, so ask which refrigerant it uses.
Since January 1, 2025, new residential air conditioners and heat pumps made in or imported into the U.S. have to use a refrigerant with a global warming potential under 700. EPA's final rule of May 2026 removed the January 1, 2026 installation deadline for equipment made or imported before 2025, so that older stock can still be installed.
The refrigerant a unit uses can affect what future service parts and refrigerant cost and what the warranty says, so it is worth getting the answer in writing before the install date.
Check this yourself: Ask the installer in writing which refrigerant the unit uses and when it was made, then check the nameplate once it's set.
AC Replacement Efficiency: Why 14.3 SEER2 Is the Floor in Wylie's Heat
Texas is in the federal Southeast region, so a new split-system AC installed here starts at 14.3 SEER2.
That floor applies to most split-system air conditioners, and split-system heat pumps have the same 14.3 SEER2 minimum with 7.5 HSPF2. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for the Lavon Dam station, the nearest to Wylie, average about 95 days a year at 90 F or above and about 15 at 100 F or above. They are normals for that station and not Wylie measurements, but June through September hold about 81% of its cooling degree days.
Check this yourself: Line up each quote's SEER2 number side by side, and ask how the system was sized for your house.
Heat Pump Rebates and Tax Credits for a Wylie AC Replacement: What's Open in 2026
As of November 2026, the money on offer depends on which electric utility sends your bill.
Oncor's page for its home energy efficiency programs says its 2026 funding is fully exhausted and to check back in January 2027 for updates. Farmers Electric Cooperative publishes a $500 air source heat pump rebate for its members. It needs a complete indoor coil and outdoor unit change-out and a system rated at least 19 SEER, it ends when the program's funds run out, and the purchase and application both have to fall in 2026.
The federal 25C credit covered improvements through December 31, 2025, so a system installed now doesn't qualify for it.
Check this yourself: Look at your electric bill for the utility name before counting on a rebate.
Replace Your AC or Repair It?
About 1 in 4 Wylie households has lived in the same house since before 2010, and about 38% moved in since 2018. The label on the outdoor unit tells you its age, so read that first, then use our guide to repairing or replacing your AC or the Wylie AC repair page.
If the label shows an older system or the repair quote is large, a replacement quote next to it shows you the difference.
Age, repair cost and how often it breaks down are the usual signs. When a repair quote is a large share of the cost of a new system, or the system is old and failing in more than one place, replacement is often the better buy.
It should name the equipment, the work on the ducts and thermostat, removal of the old system and the permit, with the price in front of you before any work starts. Our quotes are upfront, so you can compare them line by line.
When the work is done through Stork's, we pull the permit, the permit fee is included in your project cost, and someone from Stork's meets the inspector.

The City of Wylie's permit list names air conditioning and heating system installs and replacements, and ductwork installs and replacements. Ask any installer to show you the license number that will go on the city's sheet.
The city has an owner's route: you have to claim a homestead exemption at the address, do all of the work yourself and schedule the inspections, and the city can revoke the permit if violations are reported and not corrected. Handling refrigerant also requires EPA certification.
EPA's May 2026 rule lets equipment made or imported before January 1, 2025 still be installed. Ask which refrigerant it uses and when it was made, because parts, future service and the warranty can differ from newer equipment.
As of November 2026, Oncor's page says its 2026 funding for its home energy efficiency programs is exhausted and to check back in January 2027 for updates. Farmers Electric members can apply for a heat pump rebate if the system meets its 19 SEER minimum. The federal 25C credit ended December 31, 2025.
Most new split-system air conditioners installed in Texas must be at least 14.3 SEER2. A rating above that is a choice, and the quotes should show the number for each system.
